There are a few different types of objects that end up getting left around the home. Some are obviously useful, such as old chairs or tables- and some less so, such as old rope or nails. But before you stash a good length of old rope away at the back of the shed, or even throw it out, consider repurposing it as part of the design in your home instead. And no, we don’t mean you should start trying to measure furniture with rope! Rope can have a lot of different uses elsewhere in the home. It’s made from a versatile and strong material which means it can even be used structurally!
Got some old rope hanging around? Good, use it as a unique and fun way to hold up shelving throughout the home. Not only does this look great, but it goes well with various different styles too. This can especially look good in nature-themed rooms, or in children’s rooms- where the rope can be painted bright colours or matched with pirate decor! Don’t fret if holding shelving up isn’t your style, attach the rope along the edges or down the side of shelving- or any furniture, for a unique decorative twist.
Rope isn’t just an inside material. Be brave and use it to decorate sheds, fences, or even pots and baskets. As you can see, rope is a great material for decoration- but what about by itself? Upcycle old rope by tying it together to make a quirky and fun rug or matt for the door. Curl sections of rope together to make a spiral, then glue them on top of each other for cheap and surprisingly comfortable seats. Plat and then tie in a circle for the perfect picture or mirror frame. There’s really no end to what you can do with rope; so, no excuses, get out there and use that spare rope up!
