Decking out the place with pretty and unique bits for the summer doesn't have to be so costly, and hey we're not judging, we've felt the urgent need for splashing the cash sometimes too, but it's nice to know there are other options.
Don't scream, but I'm going to bring up a little thing called Do It Yourself. No, I'm not talking about getting the hammer out and ruining nails. I'm talking about getting creative with the things that you've already got in your home and giving them a little bit more to live for. You've probably heard of upcycling, it's the practice of taking something old or unwanted and turning it into something new and useful-perhaps a new use you never even thought it would have! Take an old glass bottle for example, long gone whatever was in there and it's been waiting in the shed ready for the trip to the recycling for quite some time now, there couldn't possibly be any use for it and it looks awful... but before you chuck it, stop. Take another look, do a little polish, maybe a little paint and you can stick a candle and holder in there for some surprisingly pretty lanterns!
You don't just have to work with old and unused things, you can tidy up what you've got, and we know you've got it, so flaunt it. We're loving applique, which is when you sew patterns onto fabric or cushions for an adorable little touch.
