It's about time we give our homes the pampering they deserve, and with the amount of time we're spending at home, it's all the more reason to take on some projects to improve it as much as we can. To help transform your house or flat into a truly elegant sanctuary, here are 4 of the best home projects and DIYs you can tackle this weekend...
1. Clear your fridge and pantry of expired foods
You might have stocked up on lots of food lately, which might have caused your pantry and fridge to look like they are overflowing. Take some time to dig through the stuff that is sitting in the back, and throw out any expired foods or opened bags/containers of food you know you won't finish.
2. Deep clean your bathroom
It's been engrained in our minds how important it is these days to keep sanitising and disinfecting our homes, so you should definitely take the time to do a deep clean. Scrub down your shower, bath, sink, drains, toilet and cabinets, and toss those bath mats into the washing machine! This will honestly double as a workout too and you'll end your cleaning ritual with a rush of endorphins, and ultimately, the most satisfying sense of cleanliness.
3. Organise your bedroom drawers and wardrobe
Start by going through all of the things you own and throwing them into 3 key piles - “keep,” “donate,” and “throw away”. Then, organise the clothes you are keeping by colour function, season, or whichever way works best for you personally. You may want to reorganise what needs hanging, and what can be folded in drawers.
4. Start a herb garden in time for the season
As spring has officially sprung, many of us are looking to get into our yearly gardening activities. For those of you who love cooking at home and are avid herb enthusiasts, this is a great time to create your own herb garden! Many grocery stores and garden centres (that are open) sell herb seeds and small plants that can quickly blossom. Whether it be in your garden, a nice section on your balcony, or even a collection of small pots on your windowsill, there are lots of ways to get fresh herbs growing in and around your home.
