When styling a space, it's the little touches that matter the most. Get it right and a room can look and feel completely different, get it wrong and a room can look cluttered and messy. If you're struggling to add that extra something to your living room, don't despair, you don't need a large budget to get the look you want. A few carefully selected pieces and an eye for detail can still have a significant impact on any room, here are our best tips....
Pick up cheaper items on your travels
Not only is there a massive range of affordable and beautiful decorations available abroad, each piece also serves as a reminder of your travels. Select foreign pieces carefully, a traditional Moroccan lamp may look out of place in a modern British living room, so, pair with similar looking items, such as beanbags and traditional fabrics.
Add colour (but don't overdo it)
When a colour is perfect for a room it can be tempting to go all out and cover the entire area. Although this can look great, less colour makes more of an impact. Try using a single bold colour to highlight arches, slants, fireplaces or skirting boards to add drama to a plain walled room.
Embellish what you've got
As much as we'd like to, buying new furniture isn't always within budget. Sometimes, it's best to make do with what we've got. Bust out your old sewing kit and upgrade cheap or old furniture or fabrics by adding fun colours, patterns, trims or details. We especially love the contrast between bright yellow embroidered cushions and our best selling Epping Sofa.
