Dreaming of the perfect home? What's stopping you? If the answer's money, you'll be glad to know that there are several ways to get the impact and fun of a high budget house without having to throw away the green stuff. Here's 3 things to keep in mind to help you get started on that affordable dream.
- Use what you have
Don't fall into the trap of thinking you don't have any items or furniture that you could use or repurpose. A little bit of rearranging and a colour scheme can do wonders for changing how a particular item looks. Unless you're starting bare-bones from an unfurnished flat, there's tonnes of ways you can use your surroundings to get a different look or style. - Be creative
Look around, what's missing? It's that mysterious “it”, up to its old tricks again! But come closer, we know a secret. That buzz that you're looking for when you step into a room; is really just a cry for some personality. Getting creative is easy if you put your mind to it. If you're missing inspiration, try reading magazines, browsing the internet or even visiting stylised rooms. - Don't be scared of a little DIY
Learning certain budget skills can be a scary experience, but it's worth it to develop those skills for the future and save money when you need it most. Sewing and embroidery is a great low-cost way to make any room feel fresher without having to splash out on new materials or furniture. We love covering old or damaged wood with patterned fabric, not only does it save you money but it also saves the trees- not to mention it can look great!
