It’s easy to fall into the trap of a plain and boring white bathroom, but sometimes it pays off to have more upbeat surroundings for those sleepy early morning showers
It's easy to fall into the trap of a plain and boring white bathroom, but sometimes it pays off to have more upbeat surroundings for those sleepy early morning showers. Here are some fun and interesting ways to spice up a boring bathroom.
- Creative tiles
Boring white tiles have had their day, it's time to let the colours and patterns out to play. If you're the less creative type, plump for a tile that's interesting on it's own and use it at the head of the sink and shower to draw eyes around the room. If you're more willing to get experimenting, try using different coloured block tiles to create different effects. Make small bathrooms look larger by doing a cascade wall effect or by tiling one single wall with a bold colour. Large bathrooms look great with floor patterns, but save money by only tiling highlights. - Plants
By far the cheapest and easiest way to make a bathroom more interesting is adding plants. And no, that doesn't mean just grabbing a random plant and plonking it on the side. Take time to pick a plant that will thrive in the conditions of your bathroom and that will work with the rest of the room. Since bathrooms often have green, green leafy plants are perfect for getting that serene feeling. For brighter bathrooms or those that are mostly white, add some much needed colour by using colourful plants such as orchids. - Shower curtains
Prints, florals and lines make fun and funky curtains. But for those looking for the perfect unique curtain, tassels or textured curtains are zesty, fresh and surprisingly affordable. Don't fall into the trap of getting a standard blank shower curtain, easy to replace and perfect for renters- shower curtains are a fantastic cheap way to add some love to a bland bathroom.
