The kitchen is one of the most used rooms in the house, so it's no surprise that small kitchens can really dampen your mood. Although we'd all love a large and spacious cooking area, sometimes you've got to fake it to make it! Don't be stuck moping, widen and brighten a small and gloomy kitchen space with these 3 tips from the experts!
- Use the unexpected
It's not often you think of storing stuff on the stove, but needs must in a cramped space with little other storage! Have a look round the room, what unexpected furniture and appliances are hiding usable space? The stove is a perfect example, sacrifice a hob or two to use as extra counter space, or to hold a rack of kitchen ingredients to use while cooking. - Be big on backsplashes
It looks cool and it's super practical for spills and stains, but you might be surprised to learn backsplashes are great for storage too! That area of unused space may be pretty, but sometimes it's better used for some cheeky shelving for just that little bit of extra room. Every inch counts! - White is right
As much as we love colour and pattern, it's not ideal for everyroom. White is the most reflective colour, so plastering a small space with white paint and decor is a great way to make the most out of whatever light's available. Contrast with art or detailing and enjoy!
