As you go through the motions of organising areas of your home, storage baskets and organisers aren't always an obvious purchase to begin with, but they really can be a key component in keeping a space clean and tidy. Containers and storage boxes assign items a 'proper home' to return to, and prevents items becoming messy as they are divided into specific categories. So here are some of the great benefits in utilising baskets, bins and containers in your home…
Multi-Purpose Bins
Multi-purpose bins are definitely the most versatile item you can buy. They come in a variety of widths for your varying needs, yet are extremely uniform. They are translucent so you can see the contents, and they are also very lightweight. They are easy to clean and have an open-top so everything is easy to put away. They can be used to file anything from papers to foods and the best part, they are inexpensive!
Ways to use them:
- Create categories in the fridge, freezer and pantry: produce, condiments, snacks, breakfast items, bread/wraps, cereals, etc.
- Use in miscellaneous kitchen cabinets for baking sheets, cutting boards, disposable dish-ware, water bottles/tumblers, food bags and cleaning supplies.
Lazy Susans / Turntables
Turntables are known for offering easy access to your items with just a simple spin. They are especially great in narrow corner areas when it can be trickier to access items near the back of a cabinet or shelf. These are particularly handy in the kitchen and bathroom.
Ways to use them:
- Add oversized turntables to lower shelves and give them a spin, they will allow you to easily grab what you need. They are best to use for oils, sauces, spreads and food storage containers, but they would also work well for coffee and baking canisters.
- Why not also try using lazy Susan's under the kitchen sink for cleaning and household maintenance products.
Stackable Drawers
These drawers can store all of the same things as shoe boxes, but they make things much easier to access. You can stack them, but you don't have to remove anything to access the contents inside - genius!
Ways to use them:
- Under the kitchen sink for scrubbers, sponges, dishwasher pods, soaps etc.
- In an office or craft room for small supplies.
- In a closet for medications, toiletries or even pet supplies.
