It's coming up to surfing time again, and a lot of us can't afford to pop out to the beach everytime we want those vibes. If you're one of those people, why not bring the beach to you? It's easier than you think, and, along with the rest of the room, your sofa can contribute a lot to that look. Think of your sofa like the centrepiece of your living room, it's important to get it right. The beach look is all about blue or white fabrics, so stick to a sofa base with a pasty white or blue colour, such as the Chigwell. Cover the sofa with layers of fabrics, but keep it natural. Blue cushions can work a treat against a white sofa, especially those with sea-like patterns or stripes. We love seashell cushions with natural fabric, especially when matched with the same shapes throughout the room.
Wood is a big part of the beach, especially driftwood. It would be great if we could just slap some wood on the sofa, but that would probably be really uncomfortable- so we don't recommend it! Instead, stick to a wooden floor and wooden furnishings. Add feet protectors to the bottom of your sofa to stop it from scratching bare wood. Footstools can also use wood, although- as with the sofa- keep the top bit comfy with a nice light fabric! Beach huts are often tiny, and while you don't want to make your room smaller, you can create the same effect by facing multiple sofas together, or sectioning off an area of the room with a single sofa; all without actually losing any space. Don't be afraid to be a bit more jumbly with this style!
