At Sofa Club, we’ve always believed a sofa is more than just somewhere to sit. It’s where conversations unfold, connections spark, and culture quietly happens. On Friday 12 December we brought that belief to life with a festive film collaboration alongside Thursday, the global IRL dating brand, hosting a Christmas screening of The Holiday at The Ministry in Borough.
What unfolded was less of an event and more of a shared moment - one rooted in comfort, connection and a little festive magic.

From Furniture to Feeling
The day kicked off with an intimate daytime screening for a curated guest list of 30 influencers and journalists, followed by a sold-out evening showing attended by 44 members of the public. Across both screenings, the focus wasn’t on products in the traditional sense, but on how our sofas live in the real world - lived-in, social, and central to modern rituals.
Rather than lining the room like a showroom, 40 Sofa Club sofas were woven directly into the experience, transforming the venue into an interactive cinema space. Guests were invited to settle in, relax and truly experience what comfort feels like when it’s shared.
Because a sofa isn’t static. It’s where people gather, lean closer, laugh louder and stay longer.
A Love Letter to The Holiday
Styled as a cinematic homage to The Holiday, the space blended the best of both worlds - Amanda’s LA villa meets Iris’s cosy Cotswolds cottage. Think aspirational interiors paired with festive warmth, creating a setting that felt instantly familiar, comforting and emotionally charged.
It didn’t feel like “an event” it felt like stepping into a shared cultural reference point. The kind that sparks conversation, invites content creation naturally, and makes strangers feel a little more connected.
This is all part of our wider evolution: moving from traditional retail into a more community-driven, culturally relevant lifestyle brand. More club, less catalogue.
The Natural Link Between Sofa Club and Thursday
Partnering with Thursday felt instinctive from day one. As the UK’s fastest-growing dating brand, Thursday is built around bringing people together in real life by encouraging meaningful, intentional connections rather than endless scrolling.
And honestly, is there a better place for intimacy, conversation and connection than a sofa?
Our PR Lead and Event Organiser, Iliana Olymbios, put it perfectly:
“From the beginning, this collaboration felt incredibly natural. Thursday is about real-life connection and intimacy, and there’s no better setting for that than a sofa. By reimagining The Holiday through both brands’ lenses, we were able to create an experience that felt warm, playful and genuinely immersive. It wasn’t just a screening, but a shared moment that people could really sink into.”
Pairing Thursday’s ethos around closeness and shared moments withTheHoliday (a film synonymous with romance, comfort and emotional connection) created a cultural backdrop that felt authentic, not forced.

A Guest List That Spanned Culture
The room was filled with voices from across lifestyle, interiors, entertainment and digital culture. Guests included This Morning’s Grace Forrell, Influencer Sofia Petrillo and TikTok favourite GrimeGran, reflecting the collaboration’s crossover appeal and our ambition to exist beyond traditional retail categories.
Redefining What Retail Can Be
This night wasn’t about selling sofas. It was about showing how Sofa Club lives in the real world, how it supports connection, enhances shared experiences and belongs naturally within moments of intimacy, entertainment and culture.
As we continue to collaborate with like-minded brands, events like this reinforce what Sofa Club is becoming: a modern lifestyle brand that invites people to take a seat, stay a while, and be part of the club.
Because culture doesn’t happen in showrooms. It happens on sofas.
