DIY: How To Deep Clean Your Sofa

If you missed it, we uploaded a much requested, updated cleaning video on our IGTV channel last week! We get a lot of questions from you guys asking how you should clean your Sofa Club sofas, so you can now follow these 4 quick and easy tips that will leave your sofa looking brand new:

  1. HAND WASH YOUR CUSHION COVERS
    Firstly, all our sofas come with removable cushion covers. Simply take off the covers and we advise hand washing them with a well diluted upholstery cleaner in lukewarm water. Once you’ve done this, leave them to dry naturally and put back on once dry.
  2. USE A HANDHELD HOOVER
    While these are washing, give your sofa a good hoover using a hand-held vacuum. This is going to help you get into those hard to reach places where dust and crumbs can build up - you’ll always be surprised to see what you can find under the base cushions, especially if you have little kids!
  3. USE AN UPHOLSTERY BRUSH
    Next we advise purchasing an upholstery brush, you can get these at any home store, and then use this on your cushions and base of the sofa to buff away any remaining dirt and dust. They are particularly good if you have pets as it will get rid of any cat or dog hair!
  4. MAKE YOUR OWN SOFA SPRAY
    And finally, if you would like to make your sofa that extra bit clean, you can follow Mrs Hinch's hack and make your own sofa spray! She advises mixing one capsule of fabric softener with water and putting in a spray bottle, then spraying it onto your sofa to create a gorgeous smelling living room!
